A thermoplastic is a material that a relatively high
temperature, it becomes deformable or flexible: if it
melts when heats up and repeats in state of
transitional glass when enough.
Most thermoplastic are high molecular weight
polymers. The best used its: Polyethylene (PE),
Polypropylene (PP), Polybutylene (PB), Polystyrene
(PS), Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), Polychloride
vinyl (PVC), Ethylene Polyethylene (PET), Teflon (or
polytetrafluoroethylene, PTFE) and Nylon (a type of
polyamide).
Injection molding is a semi-continuous process
which consists of injecting this type of polymer
found in a closed mold with certain shapes and
dimensions, subjected to pressure and cold to form
the desired piece. |
